Spring in a Pleasure Garden – Changsha Standing alone in the cold autumn, the Xiang River flows northward, at the head of Orange Isle. Watch as the mountains are covered in red, with forests of every shade painted in color ; The river is crystal clear, with hundreds of boats racing against each other. Eagles soar through the sky, fish swim in the shallow waters; all creatures strive for freedom in this frosty world. Gazing at the vast expanse, I ask the boundless world: who controls fate? I brought a hundred companions on those journeys; I recall the glorious days of yesteryear. In our youth as classmates, in the prime of our lives ; The spirit of a scholar, bold and unrestrained. Discussing politics with passion and writing boldly; dismissing the former lords as worthless. Do you remember racing against the current, with waves holding back the speeding boats?
December 1925, *, Changsha
*In late autumn of 1925, passing through Changsha
