Air cooler gas phase line

The hot medium coming out of the top of the distillation tower is cooled in an air cooler. Why do some air coolers have a gas line connecting back to the tower, while others do not? What is the purpose of having a gas line?
Your medium may be a two-phase flow.
It could also be a gas return line to prevent gas blockage
It’s probably a process-related issue; I’m not sure either. Is it used to cool the gas phase? Is there a gas phase at the top of the distillation tower? The part that is cooled by the fan turns into a liquid phase which then returns to the top of the tower for further distillation. Two cooling units are sufficient, so there’s no need for a third one for cooling. It’s just my guess; those who know what’s going on, please share their opinions
