What are the differences and connections between the terms project, device, system, section, and workshop?

Please discuss the differences and connections between the terms engineering, project, device, system, section, and workshop. I have only been in factories, and I only know the concepts of workshops and production units. Generally, a workshop is divided into several production units (or processes), and one or several workshops are used to produce a particular product. Recently, while looking at hg 20519, I noticed that the terms used there are things like projects, devices, systems, etc. Could some experts in design please help me understand what these terms mean?

Engineering: This refers to projects of a relatively large scale; for example, a project involving 200,000 tons of biodegradable plastics. It is an umbrella term for comprehensive, large-scale, complex projects that comprise various sub-projects. Project: A project is more practical than a simple task; it involves budget, time, and resources, and has a clear direction and purpose. Plant: A plant is a sub-item of a project and is more specific; for example, there are formaldehyde plants and ethylene plants, each producing a clear and single type of product. Workshop: A workshop represents a larger category within a plant; for instance, there are alcohol-ether workshops and esterification workshops. Some companies refer to such units as workshops, while others call them factories – it seems to be a unit at a certain level. Section: A section is a further subdivision of a workshop; for example, if a workshop has two different reaction processes with intermediate storage tanks, then that workshop can be divided into two sections using those intermediate storage tanks as boundaries. The classification of units and systems is not particularly clear; in most cases, a system is slightly smaller than a unit. A system is an independent part within a plant – for example, a hydrogenation system, a reaction system, or a refining system – representing a relatively complete subset within the plant. Personally, I feel that from bottom to top, there is an inclusive relationship.

From the perspective of production operations: factory, workshop, section ； From the perspectives of project initiation, approval, and construction: a project or work; “XX Project” is often an abbreviation for “project”. From the perspective of design and production technology: devices, systems. Between different angles, they sometimes also borrow each other’s names.
