It turns out that cultural and linguistic gaps are truly huge barriers to communication. For example, we try to help the client understand our drawing templates, and then we use the term “design depth,” explaining it in great detail, but the client still doesn’t get it. Many experienced professionals didn’t understand it either; some said “design content,” some said “design extension,” and others said “design procedure.” In the end, we had to show them a sample image so they could see what it looked like. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Guys, what do you think?
Is “the level of design” okay?
Design depth; when communicating with foreigners, especially those whose mother tongue is not English, it’s often necessary to write things down and use multiple sentences to convey one idea, so as to ensure clarity.

Design depth refers to the level of detail in the design drawings. Therefore, there is no need for concern regarding what the original poster mentioned – namely, that the term \"design depth\" should not be used casually, as foreigners might misunderstand it as referring to a specific depth, such as how deep the pits for equipment foundations should be. And “design depth” and the design phase are not the same thing at all. Translating “design depth” as the design phase shows that our level of English doesn’t even have the concept of “depth”.
