What are the effects of ammonia in gas on crude benzene?
I’m looking forward to expert advice. A more accurate way to phrase this question in the previous post would be: What impact does ammonia present in coke oven gas have on the crude benzene recovery rate during the benzene washing process?
Ammonia in gas causes severe corrosion to the equipment in the crude benzene system, such as tubular furnaces and benzene removal towers.
The benzene removal tower in our facility is a cast-iron bubble cap tower, and leaks have occurred at the tower rings; however, it’s not clear whether this is related to ammonia, as our ammonia vaporization tower is also a cast-iron bubble cap tower, and no leaks have been observed there yet
In our facility, the ammonia content in the gas after the saturator is usually between 0.03 and 0.05. I’m not sure whether this level will have any impact on the quality of the washing oil; I seek expert advice

Our facility has three coke oven chemical production systems, and in all of them there has been a significant increase in the crystallization point temperature during the use of washing oil. The coolers used for cooling the oil at the second stage frequently become clogged due to crystallization, which forces us to raise the temperature in the benzene washing tower – sometimes even above 33°C. Recently, there has also been a notable increase in ammonia content in the gas, and this increase is evident even in the gas after passing through the saturator. As a result, some people suggest that ammonia might be responsible for the deterioration of the circulating washing oil. At present, it’s not possible to confirm or disprove this hypothesis; therefore, I wonder if experts have any cases related to this issue: lol
It could be: 1, the oil washing and regeneration effect is poor; 2. The quality of the oil used for cleaning purchased is poor, with too low levels of α-methylnaphthalene and β-methylnaphthalene ; 3. Is the temperature of the oil undergoing cyclic washing as it exits the tubular furnace consistently too high? ;
