Regarding fire separation distances: Is there such a statement as “Refer to Petrochemical Code 4.2.12; in this case, the center line of the fire dike is used as the starting and ending point”? Isn’t it specified in the fire separation requirements that the tank group is measured based on the outer wall of the tanks?
No one answers? I’ll take it!
That’s right; for buildings, the axis or a reference line is generally used, while for fire protection, it’s more conservative to use the outer edge as a reference.
Sir, isn’t there such a phrase as “using the centerline of the fire dike as the starting and ending point”? I couldn’t find any legal provision to support it.
I also couldn’t find the relevant provisions.
If it is the distance between the plant tank farm and areas outside, it should be measured from the center of the fire dike; if it is the tank farm itself, it should be measured from the outer wall of the storage tanks.
The explanatory notes for clause 4.2.12 of the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" state, on page 87, that \"for the plant’s storage tank groups, the center line of the fire dike serves as the starting and ending point.\"”
