As the title suggests, many domestic clients are using galvanized pipes for the gas supply lines in order to save costs. The quality of these pipes is quite poor; as a result, rust accumulates heavily on the pipes in lower floors, which in turn causes the solenoid valves to get clogged and prevents the pneumatic valves from functioning properly (the original valves from Xuzhou Akka do not come with a two-piece fitting). Now, the client wants to install a 1-inch two-piece fitting in front of the pressure regulator. Is this approach feasible? The fundamental problem cannot be eliminated; for now, we can only delay it. But can such a large dual-unit device prevent rust from affecting the dozen or so valves at the back end? First, thank you all for your advice
So do the filters for your air supply often have problems? You can’t cut corners on this – it’s not worth it. In our designs, we use stainless steel almost everywhere
Perform regular purging or disassemble the valve for purging during shutdowns
1. Regularly clean the filter and pressure regulator elements. 2. If possible, it is recommended to replace the gas supply pipeline with stainless steel.
Most factories use galvanized pipes
We all use stainless steel pipes or white steel pipes; is your use of galvanized pipes the result of the original design?
Whether it can be blocked depends on the extent of the rusting. If the rusting isn’t too severe, it should still be possible to do so. However, it’s necessary to choose a suitable two-piece assembly. It’s recommended to replace the filter elements of such assemblies regularly, as well as to purge them when the machine is stopped. In cases of severe rusting, it could pose a safety risk. I’m not sure what the pressure of the instrument air is in your system
If it’s not possible to replace the stainless steel pipes, then regular cleaning of the pipelines is the only option – there’s no other way!
The galvanized pipes were in use for 10 years; last year they were all replaced with stainless steel ones, which is more hassle-free
