China secures design rights for the world’s first aromatic compound complex using LD-Parex technology

China has been chosen to design the world’s first aromatic compounds production plant using LD-Parex technology. Recently, the East China Design Branch of CNPC Engineering Construction Company began working on the engineering design for this facility, marking it as the first company in the world to undertake the engineering design for this cutting-edge technology. LD-Parex technology is a new process route for producing p-xylene. By using the improved adsorbent ADS-50 and replacing the desorbent from diethylbenzene with toluene, it is possible to reduce the harsh operating conditions in the adsorption separation stage, thereby increasing the yield of p-xylene ； The thermal integration approach utilizes an energy optimization process (EEAC), which reduces fuel consumption and the number of devices, thereby saving on engineering costs and utility expenses. The successful application of this advanced technology will provide an upgraded technical approach for the industrial production of p-xylene; it can also be used to improve efficiency and reduce costs in existing aromatic compound production facilities. Over the course of more than 40 years of development, the East China Design Branch has built a design team headed by well-known domestic design experts. It has undertaken the engineering design for 8 aromatic compound complexes and over 20 continuous reforming units both domestically and internationally, and has rapidly become a key player in the field of reforming and aromatic compound design in China.
