What should you do if you encounter a misleading quote?

The original poster is currently working on a project and has encountered such purely mischievous behavior, which is both amusing and frustrating; fortunately, the poster does have some limited authority to make decisions. The owner’s project requires a set of DCS systems. Since the number of points required is not large – only four or five hundred points – and the process is relatively simple, the owner didn’t consider using any high-end brands. Thinking that there wasn’t much money to spend, they sought out two reliable DCS suppliers in China, asked for quotes from them, and then issued the contract. After receiving the quotes, I was both amused and puzzled; one company’s quote was fairly reasonable, at around 1,000 yuan per point on average. The quote from the other company is simply incomprehensible – they quoted 400 yuan per point, which is even lower than the price of a PLC; it’s utterly mind-boggling. After seeing that quote, I made it clear to them on several occasions that the price should cover hardware, software, services, upgrades, and all other related aspects, meaning it should be a fully comprehensive contract! The other party actually said there was no problem! !

Domestic DCS systems are much cheaper; four to five hundred is a normal price. Hollyland currently has only one type of DCS, so it doesn’t have many advantages for smaller projects. The central control systems are quite comprehensive and come in a series; the low-end, smaller-scale JX-300XP is very inexpensive. If you’re looking for brands like Youwen, Zhongzi, or Xinhua, it’s likely possible to get them at a lower price.
Chemical engineering project? Are there many external components? Things like safety barriers, for example. If not, a domestic system at 400 per point is already quite good; currently its market price is much lower than that of PLCs
Being mischievous? Maybe they just want to reach some kind of strategic agreement with you. Enter the market at a low price, incur losses in order to gain a foothold there, and then consider future development.
The industry is in a downturn right now; 400 yuan per point isn’t exactly excessive. It may not generate profits, but it’s still better than starving to death – it at least helps keep the business running.
This price is still quite normal; it indicates that due to the economic downturn and fierce market competition, industries with high profits are also starting to see their profits decrease....
The cost of imported DCS systems is around 1,000 yuan per point, while domestic DCS systems such as those made by Zhejiang University Control Systems and HollySys cost approximately 500 yuan per point. So, 400 points isn’t really an exorbitant amount; you can simply ensure that the technical specifications are covered in detail, without leaving anything out
