If the process parameters have not changed and this problem has only appeared recently, then it might be worth considering whether the demisting screen in the methanol separation tank has come loose, which could lead to a poor gas-liquid separation effect
It is highly likely that the low demisting efficiency of the upstream methanol separator is the cause of liquid presence at the inlet of the circulation compressor. Especially when traditional mesh-type demister internals are used in methanol separators, their low operational flexibility, susceptibility to clogging and corrosion, high pressure drop, and low efficiency often result in suboptimal separation performance. The use of high-efficiency vane-type methanol separation internals to replace traditional mesh or filter-type demisting separation internals has become a major trend in recent years.
