It is recommended to use an online micro-dissolved oxygen analyzer to monitor the degree of removal and changes in micro-dissolved oxygen in the raw materials. UOP’s process packages include specialized methods for detecting trace amounts of dissolved oxygen.

Regarding the methods of purchasing naphtha as a raw material, when it is imported from abroad by ship or has been stored in tanks on the other side for an extended period of time, dissolved oxygen may be present in the naphtha. If the material is supplied directly through pipelines between facilities, there is no need for a deoxygenation tower.
Additionally, the upper deoxygenation tower is primarily used to prevent dissolved oxygen from causing an increase in pressure drop in the pre-hydrogenation reactor.
