I would like to ask fellow sailors for advice on choosing between ball valves and gate valves

I would like to ask fellow sailors: under what circumstances should gate valves be used, and under what circumstances should ball valves be used? Both of these valves are used for opening and closing, and they seem quite similar; I’m not sure how to tell them apart. I hope experienced users can offer some guidance

Ball valves are generally chosen for applications that require a faster opening speed. The opening stroke of a gate valve is larger than that of a ball valve. However, the switching force is high and it tends to get stuck, so it is not suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. Gate valves are generally used to shut off fluids, either fully open or fully closed. They are typically employed in situations where they do not need to be opened and closed frequently, remaining in an open or closed state throughout.
