When a carbon steel lined pipe is connected to a wafer-type butterfly valve, could it be because the valve disc of the butterfly valve cannot be opened? Because the carbon steel lining is about 3mm thick with PE – please help
I have encountered this situation before, so it is essential to make requests to the valve manufacturer. Lined pipes also require strict manufacturing processes; in some cases, the gap between PTFE and carbon steel in such lined pipes is very large, which prevents the installation of butterfly valves
If we make requests to the manufacturer, will they incur additional costs by going with a non-standard solution?
This situation is not common; generally, lining manufacturers do not thicken the material casually, as doing so incurs additional costs.
When purchasing valves, submit the type of pipeline for which this butterfly valve is to be used to the manufacturer as well. Most will not increase the price. The market is so sluggish these days.

It’s not a problem with the thickness; rather, the manufacturer’s manufacturing process is inadequate, resulting in a lining that is far too small compared to the carbon steel pipe.
Our company specializes in manufacturing such pipes and valves; in fact, we have never encountered this kind of problem. It’s hard to say anything about those manufacturers who produce substandard products.

Pipes with a tetrafluoroethylene lining also require that their inner diameter be maintained at an appropriate level. As long as the bore size of the wafer-type butterfly valve is chosen correctly, it should not fail to close (or open), unless..-------------------------
