A bit of air is in the tube, but when it’s tapped, the sound produced is very muffled, as if the entire tube is blocked, yet the other end is open. Could it be that the vibrations are absorbed where the tube is blocked?
The blockage serves as a sound insulator.
This method basically won’t work. For clogs in long pipes, a practical method of removing sections one by one can be used
