One of our production units requires a new oxygen compressor. The oxygen is supplied at low pressure from the air separation unit located on site; the addition of an oxygen compressor to this new unit is for use purposes, not for filling. So, was the design of these new oxygen compressors developed in accordance with the GB50030-2013 Code for Design of Oxygen Stations? According to this code, clause 5.0.6.4 stipulates that \"when piston compressors are used and need to operate continuously, backup units must be provided.\" However, given that imported oxygen compressors are being considered, their high cost means that backup units have not been considered for now. The problem itself lies not in the equipment but in the process. If cutting off the oxygen supply poses no operational risk to the equipment and only results in a shutdown, then it is not necessary to have a backup unit. If the device is prone to overheating and overpressure after the oxygen supply is stopped, it is necessary to consider having a backup unit; however, this situation can actually be addressed through other methods within the process settings in order to eliminate such abnormal conditions
That means it’s not necessary to follow this clause; there aren’t many standards that can be used as a reference for oxygen design, and GB50030 is an important reference standard
