What is the difference between a boiler’s economizer and a superheater? Thank you all!
A economizer is a device installed at the lower part of the flue gas duct at the rear of a boiler, used to recover waste heat. It serves as a heating surface that heats the boiler feed water to saturated water at the pressure of the steam drum. By absorbing the heat from low-temperature flue gas, it reduces the exhaust temperature of the gas, thereby saving energy and improving efficiency; hence it is called an economizer. An economizer may also include various technologies such as fuel savings, energy savings through optimal air distribution, and energy savings via variable frequency control.
