What can oil refining designers do in the future?

I am a petroleum refining designer; I work in this field, but I feel that the petroleum refining industry will not be as promising in the future as it used to be. What will I be able to do in ten years? I seek the valuable opinions of fellow sailors!

Personally, I feel that chemical industry workers have a misconception: they think that one skill (which is actually just a certain set of equipment or a very small subset of techniques) will suffice for their entire career. For the previous generation, one skill was indeed enough for a lifetime, but it’s unlikely to be the case for our generation; however, the fundamental principles remain unchanged
If you truly master the craft, you can continue to do it for decades. After all, oil reserves have increased nowadays, and refineries will need to be in operation for many more years; even if no new facilities are built, existing ones will still need to be upgraded
