The existing copper sulfate solution contains approximately 250 g/L of pentahydrate copper sulfate, has a pH of around 2.5, and a chloride ion concentration of 500 mg/L. I would like to reduce the chloride ion level to below 100 mg/L. What are some good methods for this? I don’t want to use silver nitrate in this solution, as it would introduce nitrate ions, which could affect the solution, and it would also be quite costly. Is it possible to remove it using resin or a membrane? If so, please let the manufacturer of the resin or membrane know. Thank you very much! !

Recrystallization is quite troublesome; a lot of water has to be evaporated, and then the substance has to be dissolved again. . Moreover, only about 60% of copper can be obtained as copper sulfate in the recrystallized product; 40% remains in the mother liquor. The concentration of chloride ions in the water of this mother liquor keeps increasing
I’ve also heard that there are resins for electrolytic zinc production that can remove chlorine, but I’m not sure what kind of resins they are, as it seems that most resins prefer to adsorb sulfate ions over chloride ions.

A chemical method could involve producing cuprous chloride; try introducing sulfur dioxide. There aren’t many other metal ions that can form precipitates with chloride ions.
