I currently have a pump with a capacity of 300 m3/h and a head of 30 m. What should be the appropriate diameter for the inlet and outlet pipes?
First, select a reasonable flow rate based on the operating conditions; once that is done, it’s easy to calculate the pipe diameter. There are many methods used in engineering, and standard flow rates are available – you can look them up on your own
Shouldn’t it match the inlet and outlet flanges of the pump? I’m new to this, so I’m not sure if what I’m saying is correct
One more requirement is the flow rate; if the flow rate in your pipeline is 4 m/s, it is recommended to use a DN200 pipeline. For a flow rate of 5 m/s, a DN150 pipeline is suggested, while for flow rates of 6 m/s or 8 m/s, a DN125 pipeline is recommended.
If the medium is water, or if its density and viscosity are similar to those of water, the inlet flow velocity should be set between 1.0 and 1.5 m/s, while the outlet flow velocity should be between 2.0 and 3 m/s. The exact values depend on the inlet pressure of the pump as well as the pressure drop from the pump to the next device. If the viscosity increases, the flow rate decreases. If simplicity is still desired, choose pipes that are 1–2 sizes larger than those of the inlet and outlet pipes of the pump. The inlet flow velocity should be 1.5 m/s or less; the pipeline should be as short as possible. Using pipes with a nominal diameter of 265 will meet the requirements, while the next larger size is 300 – both of these specifications are suitable. An eccentric reducer is installed when connecting the pipe and the pump.
