The main components of petroleum ether are pentane and hexane; it is primarily composed of alkanes, with almost no cycloalkanes or aromatic hydrocarbons. Its density ranges from 0.64 to 0.66. Its main uses are as a solvent and for extracting fats and oils； The components of solvent oil No. 6 can be complex, containing naphthenes as well as less than 3% aromatic hydrocarbons. Density 0.65~0.701, main use is oil extraction. Solvent oil No. 120, also known as industrial heptane, consists mainly of n-heptane, isopentane, and cycloheptane, with small amounts of octane and hexane as well. Its density ranges from 0.705 to 0.725. It is primarily used in the rubber industry and in the shoe-making sector. Solvent No. 6 and Solvent No. 120 have broader applications and higher demand; why go the extra distance?
