Our company’s new sulfur processing unit has recently started operation. The unit consists of four components: sulfur recovery and exhaust gas treatment, acidic water stripping, solvent regeneration, and gas storage tanks. We are now seeking advice from experts in this field regarding the internal control parameters for raw materials and products; we need this information urgently. Thank you in advance! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
The key parameter for sulfur recovery units is the hydrocarbon content in the acidic gas; the traditional threshold for this value used to be no more than 4% (v). It’s unclear whether this threshold is meaningful, as we have never encountered values this high – our levels have never exceeded 1%. Emission treatment: The hydrogen sulfide content in the lean amine solution is actually very important; however, it is not clear what the current value should be in order to meet the new emission standards – for example, it might be no more than 1.0, or no more than 0.8, or no more than 0.5 g/l. However, for the establishment of similar indicators, it is recommended to set only an initial value, such as not more than 1.0 g/l; in reality, it is almost impossible to achieve this value. In the future, the value should be adjusted based on the actual level that can be attained, otherwise it will be impossible to pass the quality management system audit. Then we also have an indicator for the hydrogen sulfide content at the outlet of the absorption tower; this isn’t very meaningful – having an indicator for sulfur dioxide in the flue gas is sufficient. There’s also the hydrogen content at the outlet of the quench tower, which traditionally should be between 2% and 4%. Acidic water stripping: The oil content in the feed material (the material entering the tower) is no more than 200 mg/l; the sulfide content in the purified water is no more than 10 mg/l, and the ammonia nitrogen content is no more than 60 mg/l. The pH value is usually between 6 and 9. Solvent regeneration: As mentioned earlier regarding the desulfurization of sulfur-containing exhaust gases, and also for the desulfurization of other gases, the concentration is generally not more than 1.5 g/l. The gas tanks are not under our control, and it’s difficult to regulate the parameters of this raw material – mainly the sulfur content. In addition, a large amount of nitrogen is not allowed to enter; the gas coming out of our gas tanks must be desulfurized first.
