What does it mean when the negative pressure during the Texaco gasification drying process is 3000 or 5000? What is the actual reading on the pressure gauge? For example, the pressure gauge shows -2.2 KPa...
Negative pressure is relative to gauge pressure. Negative pressure is generally expressed in terms of absolute pressure; as you mentioned, -20 kPaG corresponds to 80 kPaA
3000 or 5000 units should be in Pa; it’s a very slight negative pressure, equivalent to -300 or -500 mm of water column. 1 standard atmosphere = 10.34 meters of water column height.

That’s right; the negative value is simply “–” the corresponding number.
