Repost: Rural sewage treatment facilities are one of the seven water conservancy projects to be implemented in Taishan over the next five years. The reporter learned that currently, the first rural sewage treatment facility pilot in Taishan has been built and began trial operation at the end of last month. 　　The first rural sewage treatment facility to be built is located in Jinxin Village, Xialang Village Committee, Sijiuzhen Town. It is understood that Jinxin Village has a registered population of over 270 people, with a permanent resident population of over 210 people. Based on the assumption that each person living permanently in rural areas generates 0.07 tons of wastewater per day, and with an effective collection rate of 85% for the wastewater drainage system, the wastewater treatment facility in Jinxin Village requires a floor area of 98.27 square meters, with a total investment of 396,200 yuan. 　　Unlike traditional methods of treating wastewater using drugs and chemical agents, the wastewater treatment facility in Jinxin Village employs an \"anaerobic + subsurface flow artificial wetland wastewater treatment process\". The working principle of this wastewater treatment facility is to first lay pipelines in the villagers’ homes to collect their domestic wastewater at the treatment station; thereafter, pollutants in the wastewater are broken down and absorbed through anaerobic tanks and artificial wetlands, before the wastewater is discharged. 　　According to the staff, different plants have the ability to absorb different pollutants. The constructed wetland of this wastewater treatment facility is planted with various plants such as cannas, buglosses, and spider lilies, with the aim of utilizing the plants’ natural ability to remove pollutants from wastewater, thereby enabling rural domestic wastewater to meet Class B standard. 　　The first batch of rural sewage treatment facility projects in Taishan included 4 pilot sites, all located in Sijiuzhen: Jinxin Village, Long’an Village, Zhongcheng Village, and Xibianxiang Village. At present, the rural sewage treatment facility built in Jinxin Village can treat 20 tons of sewage per day. According to the plan, Taishan needs to build 432 rural sewage treatment facilities and 12 sewage treatment plants in towns, with the completion of these projects expected by 2018.
