The chlorine content in crude oil is likely impossible to control; the crude oil supplied by oil production plants is generally not subjected to chlorine removal, unless there is an excessive amount of water, which leads to chlorine presence – in such cases, oil production plants are required to remove water based on the high water content. Basically, most of the chlorine is removed in the electrodialysis section, and afterwards it’s the raw material purification stage for various units.
