I would like to know: (1) Which companies are currently using dry activated carbon desulfurization? (2) What are the new projects involving dry activated carbon desulfurization? (3) What are the new projects for activated carbon used in desulfurization and denitrification in China at present? I found little information online; for now, I only know that Taiyuan Iron and Steel was built by the Japanese company Sumitomo, and the amount of activated carbon used is around 7,000 tons per year. In Shanghai, China, many such desulfurization projects have been carried out using sulfur capture agents; the effectiveness of these projects is unknown, as is the amount of activated carbon used. I wonder if there are any other dry desulfurization projects, and what is the amount of activated carbon used in them. Production status of desulfurization and denitrification activated carbon: The Datong Coal Industry Activated Carbon plant, built by the Tongmei Group in 2013 with an investment of 1.2 billion yuan, has begun operations and is capable of producing 100,000 tons per year of coal-based activated carbon. It is the largest activated carbon manufacturer in Asia, with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons of activated carbon for desulfurization and denitrification purposes. Shanxi Xinhua has built a new plant in Toksun, Xinjiang, for the production of activated carbon used for desulfurization and denitration, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons. The total investment was 230.52 million yuan; it seems that the plant has not yet started operating. I’m not sure if there are any other new projects for producing activated carbon used in desulfurization and denitrification at the moment, and whether there is an overcapacity in the production of such activated carbon. I hope the experts will share what they know so that we can exchange ideas with each other.

Active carbon of high quality has very good prospects; many sintering furnaces are now using active carbon for desulfurization and denitration.
There’s a lot of work being done in this area these days; I just completed the design drawings for the use of activated carbon for desulfurization and denitration last year. This technology is still relatively new, so it’s not widely used yet
The market for activated carbon for desulfurization and denitrification was very active in 2018; prices rose from over 4,000 to over 9,000, before falling back to around 8,000 by the end of that year. Many new projects will be launched in 2019, and the production capacity is expected to reach around 1 million tons.
