On November 24, a particularly serious accident occurred at the construction site of Phase 3 of the Fengcheng Power Plant in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, when a construction platform for a cooling tower collapsed, resulting in heavy casualties. While mourning those who have passed away, we must also learn from this tragic experience, conduct thorough inspections to identify all potential hazards, enforce strict accountability for safety measures, and address any security gaps in order to protect the lives and property of the people. 　　****The State Council attaches great importance to work related to work safety, and in recent years it has taken a series of significant measures to strengthen it; as a result, work safety across the country has shown an overall stable trend with improvements. However, the situation regarding work safety remains extremely severe; the total number of accidents is still high, and serious and major accidents occur from time to time. It is imperative to pay close attention and remain vigilant at all times. 　　Safe production is related to the well-being of the people and to the overall progress of economic and social development. Our country is currently in a period of rapid industrialization and urbanization, but development must not come at the cost of human lives – this is a red line that cannot be crossed. Every project and every aspect of economic and social development must be based on safety, with no room for any negligence. 　　It is undeniable that many major safety accidents are unexpected, complex, and sudden. However, upon closer analysis, it can be seen that to varying degrees, these accidents are caused by issues such as the failure to fulfill primary responsibilities, inadequate identification of potential hazards, insufficient regulations and standards, lax supervision and enforcement, imperfect institutional mechanisms, weak safety foundations, and limited emergency response capabilities. Some companies often treat work safety as something that is important in theory but less so in practice, and gets neglected when they are busy, which leads to an accumulation of risks. 　　Disasters often arise from small oversights. To uphold the red line of safe production, enterprises must take full responsibility for it; they should prepare for the worst in all circumstances, ensure adequate investment in safety measures, provide proper safety training, maintain solid basic management systems, and have effective emergency response plans in place. Responsibilities must be assigned at every stage of production and at each work position, so that potential hazards can be identified and eliminated promptly. Production should only proceed when safety conditions are ensured, rather than merely having safety awareness as an empty slogan or something displayed on walls. 　　Ensuring safe production, maintaining social stability, and guaranteeing that the people can live and work in peace are important responsibilities that party committees at all levels and **must assume. It is necessary to firmly establish the concept of safe development, strengthen the awareness of red lines and a sense of responsibility, prioritize the interests of the people, resolutely implement the safety production responsibility system, and ensure that both the Party and government share responsibilities, that each position has dual responsibilities, that joint efforts are made in management, and that those who fail in their duties are held accountable. 　　Regulatory authorities need to deepen reforms and innovations in institutional mechanisms, improve early warning and emergency response systems, strengthen safety supervision and law enforcement, thoroughly identify and effectively address various safety risks in production, and enhance the level of safety assurance in production. With greater efforts, more effective measures, and improved systems, we must continue to make strenuous efforts in prevention and addressing the root causes to strictly prevent all types of accidents. 　　“\"Go to work happily, return home safely\" has never been a slogan that can be ignored. The end of the year and the beginning of the new year are periods when safety accidents occur frequently; all regions and departments must take firm measures to ensure safety and carry out thorough inspections and rectifications of potential safety hazards. We must firmly remember the lessons of the bloodshed and under no circumstances allow such accidents to happen again and again.
