Can the welding joint angle be changed?
The groove angle of welding joints often differs from that specified in the drawings due to the workers’ techniques.
Pressure vessels should be manufactured in accordance with the welding procedures; they cannot be altered arbitrarily. The welding process was considered from both economic and practical perspectives.
The drawings for pressure vessels specify a butt weld groove angle of 60 degrees during manufacturing, but sometimes workers use 50 degrees; yet the radiographic inspections still show that these welds are acceptable
Appendix D-D1 of GB150.3-2011 provides the basic forms and dimensions of welding grooves as recommendations only. As long as the welding assessment is appropriate, it can be modified. Appendix D only provides those situations where good penetration is generally considered desirable or suitable. As long as you believe it can ensure welding quality and has undergone welding procedure qualification. Then there’s no problem!
The groove angle can be within the range specified by the welding process.
Either the drawings or the requirements specified in WPS must be followed; one of them has to be obeyed. . . Of course, this specification of yours must be a number with a tolerance. . . That’s reasonable. . . For example, 60±5°
The manufacturer can make appropriate adjustments to the form of the weld joints as shown in the design drawings, based on its own experience
The groove angle for butt joints can be adjusted according to actual conditions; the values in the WPS are only for reference.
Are you referring to the groove angle? Carry out in accordance with welding procedure qualification
It should be consistent with the welding procedure qualification...
