I used ASPEN to simulate the effluent from the bottom of the salt column in a BDO plant – a mixture of tar, high-boiling substances, BDO, water, etc. – as it enters a thin-film evaporator. The contents at the top of this evaporator consist mainly of BDO, water, and a small amount of high-boiling substances. Using a flash drum to model this process did not yield good results; what module would be more suitable? Thank you
This post was last edited by wxch99219 on 2016-12-19 at 16:50. It consists of a heat exchanger, a flash evaporator, pumps, and valves; a heat pump is used to increase the pressure of the liquid phase, and this is typically done through vacuum distillation.
The original poster must be an expert; could they create a model?
The answer given upstairs was still a flash tank. I’m also working on it right now. I didn’t learn it well back then, and now I’ve forgotten about loops. There are still many issues to resolve; I will discuss them with everyone once the loop is working properly.
It’s a bit better to make the flash evaporation process a multi-effect evaporation
You can post the problem so that everyone can discuss and learn from it, which helps in solving the issue

Alternatively, one could try simulating it using a desorption tower with a smaller number of tray levels, such as 3–5 trays, and feed at the top of the tower
I found a post from two years ago; I’m currently thinking about this issue and am at a loss. Is there anyone who can provide an answer?
