No problem – why can it leak from the outlet to the inlet?

Under normal conditions, the pressure at the outlet of a safety valve is much lower than the pressure at its inlet; in addition, the outlet piping for safety valves connected to common media is mostly directly vented. Where did the original poster get the idea that the outlet of the safety valve could flow back to its inlet?

There is a safety valve on the bottom outlet pipeline for liquid ethylene; a burst disc is located before the inlet of this safety valve. At present, the outlet of the safety valve is covered with ice, and there is material inside the outlet pipeline – but how could it flow back to the inlet of the safety valve?
