Hello everyone, I have a question: can an air compressor be used to compress nitrogen? Nitrogen is compressed from 0.04 MPa to 0.4 MPa. If that’s not possible, then which compressor should be chosen? What are the other reasons why air compressors cannot be used to compress nitrogen?
The molecular weights differ by so little, and nitrogen’s is lower than that of air, so it should work.
Compressed nitrogen should be fine for compressed air, right? 78% of the air is nitrogen, right? The molecular weight should not change much, right?
I think, for safety reasons, it’s not possible. Compressed nitrogen – even if it leaks, people can still breathe, but what about nitrogen? Once the leakage exceeds the limit, that person will die from lack of oxygen.

Considering seal leakage and the harm nitrogen can cause to the human body, I think this consideration is indeed excessive. I haven’t used it, and I believe my buddy hasn’t used it either; it’s just something imagined out of thin air.
It should work; the new hydrogen compressor can also be used to pump nitrogen, but a valve specifically designed for use with friends is needed. It is best to use dedicated equipment for specific purposes~~~~~
How are you so amazing? I never even thought of doing it that way; I always use the compressed nitrogen cylinder. I can only say that I really like to deviate from the main topic and not think in the direction suggested by the original poster. So, strange answers arise.
