Why is it necessary to emphasize that acetylene cylinders must be equipped with flashback arrestors?
Since the pressure of acetylene is relatively low, in the operation of an oxygen-acetylene flame, acetylene participates through the suction effect of oxygen; flashback can occur, and it is very likely that oxygen will enter the acetylene cylinder via the acetylene pipeline. Therefore, a flashback arrester must be installed on the acetylene cylinder.

When using an acetylene flame for gas welding and cutting, if phenomena such as flame backflow or failure to ignite occur, the backflowing flame can reach inside the acetylene hose through the welding torch or flow back into the acetylene cylinder. The temperature and pressure of the gas cylinder rise sharply, causing acetylene to decompose and resulting in an explosion. A tempering inhibitor can effectively prevent the flame from backflaming into the gas cylinder, thus avoiding serious fires and explosions in acetylene cylinders
