The basic principle of density meter measurement is to measure the degree of darkening, that is, the darkness, of the photosensitive material after exposure and development. Higher darkness means higher density ; Lower blackness means lower density. A meter equipped with a filter can also measure the color density of color originals. Its measurement principle is similar to the aforementioned basic principle. A hydrometer used in physical experiments is an instrument for measuring the density of liquids. It is designed and operates based on the principle that the buoyant force acting on an object floating in a liquid is equal to its weight. A densimeter is a sealed glass tube of uneven thickness, with a small amount of lead pellets or mercury of higher density placed at its lower end. When in use, place the hydrometer vertically in the liquid whose density is to be measured. Once the hydrometer has stabilized, read the density of the liquid from its scale. There are two common types of hydrometers: one is used to measure the density of liquids with a density greater than that of pure water, and it is called a heavy gauge ; Another method for measuring liquids with a density lower than that of pure water is called light metering.
The densimeter rises or sinks depending on the changes in the balance between gravity and buoyancy. But at equilibrium, the magnitude of the gravity acting on it is equal to the buoyant force. Since the volume of the hydrometer does not change, the volume of water it displaces remains the same. However, it becomes heavier because it contains more water. When gravity is greater than buoyancy, the densimeter sinks. The weight of the hydrometer is less than that of water of the same volume, so the hydrometer floats again. The reading of the hydrometer is higher at the bottom and lower at the top; when it is immersed in different liquids, its volume remains unchanged while the reading changes. Density meters can also be used for the monitoring and control of the production and processing processes of such products.
