The customer needs low-temperature butterfly valves, but the pneumatic actuators also have to operate in such low temperatures (minus 183 degrees Celsius). Many manufacturers said that it’s too cold for them to manufacture these components, so the customer is considering manufacturing them themselves. Do anyone have any suggestions?
It’s uncertain whether the diaphragm of the pneumatic actuator can withstand it. Could other actuators be considered?
Taking everything into account, pneumatic is still the most suitable option
What about AT double-acting piston type? Can the Saint-Gobain spring-loaded sealing ring on the piston provide a proper seal?
The medium flowing through the pipeline is a cryogenic liquid; does the actuator also need to operate in a low-temperature environment? ? Typical low-temperature pneumatic valves, along with solenoid valves, can operate in normal temperature environments; it’s just that there is a valve stem about 300 millimeters long connecting the actuator to the part of the valve that comes into contact with low-temperature liquids. I have solenoid valves for low temperatures – is the entire setup kept in a low-temperature environment? Could you talk about the operating conditions? It seems unnecessary to use a low temperature even without a pneumatic head.

The valve itself is kept at a low temperature because it handles low-temperature media, and a thermal insulation jacket is usually installed around it. Since the valve features a low-temperature elongable valve stem, the actuator should still operate in a normal temperature environment.
