Dear colleagues, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new plant’s synthesis of ethylene glycol has recently taken place, and now the assignment of tasks is underway. I would like to know where I should start learning – my current role is related to acetylene purification, and I only have an understanding of that process; I know nothing about the ethylene glycol production process. They all say that setting up a new factory is a good opportunity to learn*, and since I don’t want to go into battle unprepared, I’m asking those who know more to tell me where I should start learning* so that I can have a greater say in matters. Process, principles, equipment operation, startup and shutdown, troubleshooting – step by step
First get familiar with the process, then look at the equipment, followed by the instruments and utility systems. Once you’re familiar with everything, it will become clear what suits you best to do.
