I’ve been learning about *gate valves recently. A colleague told me that the company used to purchase a welded gate valve, which was nearly twice as expensive as the ordinary valves that are made by casting. I would like to ask everyone: what are the advantages and disadvantages of these two types of valves? Why are welded valves so expensive when they have the same specifications? It seems that welded valves are more prone to deformation, and their reliability is not as good as that of cast valves. Am I correct in thinking this?

Non-destructive testing is definitely required for welding, and the cost will certainly be high
They are forged and welded, so they don’t deform; X-rays are taken after welding. Such valves definitely have a longer lifespan than cast ones and are less prone to leaks. The price is definitely high too
