I am familiar with this material; it is a high-silicon stainless steel resistant to acids, and it cannot be welded together with carbon steel.
The XDS-2 high-silicon stainless steel is designed with a silicon content of 6–7% and ultra-low carbon levels (≤0.03% C). The microstructure is designed to be a stable austenitic structure, granting it excellent properties for cold and hot working as well as weldability. XDS-2 high-silicon stainless steel is a stainless steel designed for use in high-temperature concentrated sulfuric acid, developed independently in China, manufactured domestically, and possessing independent intellectual property rights. After being introduced to the Chinese market, it was successfully applied, filling a gap in the domestic market. In particular, the successful development of shaped materials greatly promoted the technological upgrading of sulfuric acid production equipment in our country. XDS-2 high-silicon stainless steel can be used to manufacture sulfuric acid production equipment such as dryers, absorbers, 93% sulfuric acid desorption towers, tubular acid separators, tank-type acid separators, packing support grating plates in towers, circulating acid tanks, acid storage tanks, pipelines, and valves
