The standard HG/T 20660-2017 is used to determine the toxicity of media; it states that it is applicable to pressure vessels, but is it also applicable to pressure pipelines? What is its relationship with GBZ230-2010? HG/T 20660-2017 classifies sulfuric acid as a highly hazardous substance, while under the original GB 5044-85 it was considered moderately hazardous. Starting in 2010, GBZ230-2010 and GB5044-85 coexisted, but the parameters used to determine toxicity under these two standards were different. Why did this coexistence occur? So, from 2010 when GBZ230-2010 was issued until before HG/T 20660-2017 was released, were sulfuric acid pressure pipelines with a diameter larger than DN50 classified as GC1 or GC2 pipelines? I would appreciate some guidance from experts, thank you!
Please upvote this; HG/T 20660 does not specify whether it is applicable to pressure pipeline design. If sulfuric acid pipelines are classified as GC1 under the category of highly hazardous media, the requirements seem to be too strict
According to the information I found, GB 5044-85 was repealed on March 23, 2017; it was abolished as part of the efforts to consolidate and streamline mandatory standards, and its replacement standard is GBZ/T230-2010. Regarding HG20660, my opinion is that it can only be applied if it is a pressure vessel; otherwise, GBZ/T230 should be applied.
GB/T 230 does not specify the exact media, so one has to carry out calculations on their own, which poses some difficulties for engineering and technical personnel!
As a result of our internal discussions, it was decided that pipelines do not need to comply with this standard; in the relevant pipeline standards SH/T3059 and SH/T3501, sulfuric acid is classified as a medium-hazardous medium. For reference only
The latest versions of SH/T 3059 and SH/T 3501 were also issued in 2011 and 2012, which is later than GB/T 230-2010; therefore, they should have been updated as well to classify sulfuric acid as a highly hazardous substance. Perhaps it was forgotten or for some other reason when the standards were updated. Currently, various standards in China are not consistent with each other! Our company states that the pipelines should also be constructed in accordance with HG/T 20660. Please advise. Thank you!
