Lens pads are different from shims. The lens gaskets we commonly use are those for high-pressure threaded flanges. Lens gasket sealing structures are widely used in high-pressure pipeline connections. The sealing surfaces of the lens gasket are all spherical, coming into contact with the conical sealing surface of the pipe; in the initial state, they form a ring shape. Under the preload, the lens gasket undergoes plastic deformation at the contact points, turning the ring shape into a band shape, thereby achieving better sealing performance. Since the contact surface is naturally formed by a sphere and an inclined plane, the gasket is easy to align. The sealing of lens gaskets is a type of forced sealing, with the sealing surfaces being a sphere in contact with a cone; this makes indentation likely to occur, and the interchangeability of the components is poor. Furthermore, gasket manufacturing is costly and difficult to process. The end flanges of angular high-pressure valves currently in use in China’s general machinery industry are sealed using lens gaskets, and they are suitable for nominal pressures ranging from 16.0 to 32.0 Mpa ; Nominal diameter ranges from 3 to 200 mm ; The operating temperature is –30 to 200°C.
