It’s a fine chemical project featuring a flammable liquid storage area; the toxicity of the substances stored there is generally moderate to low. Compared to petrochemical projects, the tanks used here are smaller in size, and hoses are installed on all pipes connected to these tanks. Even the on-site drain valves with a DN25 diameter have hoses attached to them. I was told that this was a requirement from the client, and all I could do was smile
I’ve never come into contact with them before; what do hoses look like? Are there any pictures?
At the site of another project, two stepping platforms were installed to facilitate valve operation at both the front and back of the hose.
Soft hoses are used at the edges of the tanks… A major reason for this is to prevent the tanks from sinking, as well as to avoid strain on the pipelines; that’s why soft hoses are employed. Of course, if the tanks have been in use for a long time and have indeed sunk, it would have been necessary to replace them already. Is it possible to use hard pipes instead? The answer is yes. However, another consideration is that when the fluid flows through the system and makes turns, erosion can occur easily; therefore, soft hoses are usually equipped with an inner lining and must meet certain strength requirements before being used. As for hard pipes… erosion can be a serious problem
Hoses can be used; nowadays, metal hoses and RTP composite hoses both offer good performance
According to Clause 6.2.25 of GB50160-2008, the fire protection design standards for petrochemical enterprises, flexible connections should be used for the inlet and outlet pipelines of storage tanks. The mandatory representative should be adopted. The tank farm team must carry out the procedures; even if the storage tanks within the facility are not used, they still pass the inspection and can be put into use.
