In our refinery, water accumulation in the power air systems is quite noticeable. There is condensate drainage at the buffer tanks located outside the air compressors, as well as at the pipelines that lead to various units. These drainage systems are generally kept running continuously, which results in a significant amount of air being discharged – this increases the electricity consumption of the air compressors. I would like to ask whether it’s possible to install check valves at these drainage points in order to reduce air loss and save energy. Our dynamic wind pressure is around 0.55 MPa.
I’ve heard of air water valves, but I’ve never seen one in practice.
