For the heating pipelines in residential complexes, the main branches that lead from the boiler room to the individual units are generally connected by welding at the upper end of the main pipe. One technician said that this way of connecting the pipes is incorrect; instead, the connections should be made at the lower end of the main pipe. Does making connections at the upper end have any significant effects?
Steam heating pipes generally have branches that lead upward, while hot water pipes are not very different in this regard.
