In April 2025, China’s first internal inspection device for complex pipelines was developed by Shenyang Instrumentation Research Institute Co., Ltd., under the Sinopec Group (hereinafter referred to as “Shenyang Instrumentation Institute”). The development and implementation of this device not only filled a gap in China’s technology related to internal pipeline inspection but also contributed to ensuring energy security. Inspection inside complex oil and gas pipelines is a global challenge, and the independent research, development, and application of this equipment have successfully addressed the problems of hesitation and inability to conduct such inspections in domestic complex oil and gas pipelines. In the future, the R&D team at Shenyang Instrument Institute will continue to work hard to improve the versatility of these detectors in special environments such as high-temperature conditions.
