The pipeline valve is connected to the pipe using threaded connections; at a pressure of 2 MPa, it can come loose during maintenance work and cause injuries. Please analyze the reasons – does it comply with the design specifications?
First of all, the work being carried out on site constitutes a violation of regulations; knowing full well that repairs on a steel grid could lead to objects falling, no measures were taken. Even without considering the risk of injuring people, if an object falls to the bottom, don’t you have to go downstairs to get it? Furthermore, most pipe fittings with a pressure rating of 2 MPa are connected using flanges; valves made of cast steel are used, and for on-site use, ordinary threaded connections are employed. Ordinary cast iron valves and pipe fittings are used as well, and the pipes lack any anti-corrosion treatment. This falling object is probably a minor issue, but a burst pipe or valve is by no means a minor matter. It’s better to solve one’s own problems first before focusing on anything else.
This is a major issue for the installing party, but is there any clear requirement in the standards stating that cast-iron valves cannot be used or that threaded connections are not permitted? Or are there any requirements regarding the number of threads per tooth?
The standards in this regard need to be checked, but only after something has been accepted do you realize that it belongs to the installation company. It is recommended to ask the project supervisor about the relevant procedures for acceptance. As a user, being one rank higher increases your safety factor. For a pressure of 2 MPa, these cast iron valves are used; the standards for this type of threaded connection need to be checked. I’ve never seen such a facility.
