I would like to ask everyone: what material should be used for oxygen at 980°C and 1.0 Mpa? inconel602？ Have you encountered such working conditions? The specifications for oxygen stations only state that the stainless steel grade should be chosen based on the oxygen flow rate, but they don’t specify any particular material
Oxygen, a combustion-supporting gas. Under high-temperature conditions, with a source of fire present, the burning conditions are met. So the key issue is controlling the flow rate; if the flow rate is too high, it can raise the temperature of the pipes and fittings, and once that temperature reaches their ignition point, the limit of use has been reached. This requires the use of stainless steel or copper pipes and fittings. The main approach is to avoid carbon steel pipe fittings; according to safety regulations, copper is the material that allows for the highest flow rate, followed by stainless steel. Oxygen has never been used at such high temperatures. The oxygen lance used in oxygen top-blown converter steelmaking is made of carbon steel tube with a sleeve for cooling.
