There is a pipe with a diameter of 150 mm in the facility, running vertically upward. During operation, the pipeline became blocked, so the system was switched to use other pipelines. After the system was stopped, the pipe was inspected and it was found to be severely scaled. What’s unclear is that the scaling on the pipe is irregular as shown in the image below; the protrusions are nearly 30 mm in size. In a vertical pipe, such protrusions should fall downward due to gravity – so why do they remain in place? The protrusions are as much as 30 mm long. I hope experts can provide some guidance
Is it a pipe welding location? Or, protrusions on the inner diameter surface of the pipe at the time of manufacture can cause fouling to increase over time. What medium is transported through the pipeline?
Black water media are prone to scaling! If it really gets clogged, then regular pipe cleaning will be the only option! Or increase the pipe diameter!
What I mainly can’t understand is why scale can build up so high up in the pipes Won’t a vertical pipe fall downward?

Is it definitely scaling? Could it be that the fluid in your pipes crystallizes, with the protrusions inside the pipes serving as sites for crystal formation, causing the crystals to grow larger over time?
