Yes, 17-4PH has better corrosion resistance than 304, but inferior resistance compared to 316.
It can be used in methanol, crude methanol, and MTO-grade methanol, but 17-4PH contains copper; therefore, when designing similar installations, engineering firms generally require that the parts in contact with the liquid be free of copper. So, those without copper inhibition treatment can be used ； When copper-free treatment is required, 17-4PH should not be used; instead, materials such as 316 or 2205 can be chosen as alternatives.
