Why are dual-site level gauges used in steam flash tanks?

Why are dual-site level gauges used in steam flash tanks – is it a design requirement or some other reason?
One is located higher, the other is at a lower level; there is an overlapping area. The height of the flash tank is 2.4 meters, and it does not span different floors
If a level gauge this long is used, both the equipment cost and safety aspects may not be as favorable as those of using segmented level gauges!
I’ve never worked at large companies, but I now understand level gauges for large-scale equipment. I used to just look at the pictures.
