In petrochemical projects, regulations require that certain pipeline components be subjected to spectral testing in order to verify their material properties according to specified ratios. However, there are no clear guidelines regarding the actual procedures to be followed. For example, in the case of flanges, if the regulations require testing 5 flanges, should only one point on each flange be tested and as long as it passes the test, that’s sufficient? Or is it necessary to test multiple points on each flange, calculate the average value, and then determine whether that flange meets the requirements? That is, when conducting random inspections, does it suffice to test just one point on each fitting that needs to be inspected, or are multiple points required? Are there any relevant regulations in place regarding this?
