As the title suggests, for non-metallic flanges such as PE pipes and PVC pipes, do the flanges made of the same material and used in pairing with them also have RF faces, M faces, and FM faces, just like metal flanges? ?
Non-metallic flanges, such as PE (polyethylene) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) flanges, also typically have a certain sealing surface design to ensure the sealing of pipe connections. Terms such as “RF face” (Raised Face), “M face” (Male Face), and “FM face” (Female Face) are primarily used for metal flanges; the same terms may not be used for non-metallic flanges, but similar seal surface designs may exist in concept. For example, PE flanges may be designed to be flat, allowing such flange surfaces to be used in conjunction with gaskets. The sealing surfaces of PE and PVC flanges may not have a raised design like those of metal flanges, as the elastic and compressive properties of non-metallic materials differ from those of metals; therefore, a highly complex sealing surface is not necessary to achieve good sealing performance. During installation, a full face gasket or a ring gasket is usually used and placed on the flange mating surfaces to achieve sealing. Therefore, although non-metallic flanges may not have exactly the same sealing surface terminology as metal flanges, they still have corresponding sealing designs. When purchasing and installing, the manufacturer’s instructions for flanges and relevant pipeline connection standards should be followed. .
