Regarding the selection of flame arrestors

As the title suggests, some manufacturers claim that flame arresters at the pipe ends are used to prevent flame propagation, while pipe flame arresters are used to prevent detonation. Is this statement reliable? There doesn’t seem to be any clear guidelines regarding the EU’s ATEX standard and the certifications issued by Shenyang Special Inspection Institute. Could anyone give some advice?
Which manufacturer said that? It’s too amateurish; it definitely can’t be a professional manufacturer. Explosion suppression for combustion and explosion suppression for detonation are distinguished based on the mode and speed of combustion propagation, rather than on the pipe ends or the pipeline itself. Below are the definitions of pipe flame arresters, explosion and combustion arresters, and explosion and detonation arresters as specified in the national standard GB13347 for flame arresters. It is clear that both flame arresters for preventing deflagration and those for preventing detonation can be used in pipelines; the choice of appropriate flame arrester depends mainly on the form and speed of the flame within the pipeline. As for pipe-end flame arresters, they are used to prevent flames from the atmosphere from entering the storage tank; since flames in the atmosphere do not have the conditions necessary to cause an explosion, they can only result in deflagration. Therefore, pipe-end flame arresters are all flame arresters designed to prevent deflagration. Additionally, there are clear specifications for both the EU ATEX certification and the certification issued by Shenyang Special Inspection Institute. Below, I have attached screenshots of the relevant certifications for our company. The pipeline deflagration flame arresters have EU ATEX certification; Article 4 of the product specifications specifies that they are in-line deflagration flame arresters, that is, pipeline deflagration flame arresters. The pipeline explosion and flame arrestor has been certified by the Shenyang Special Inspection Institute, and it is specified in its type designation as a pipeline explosion and flame arrestor. The pipeline detonation and deflagration flame arresters have EU ATEX certification; Article 4 of the product specifications specifies that they are in-line detonation flame arresters, that is, pipeline detonation and deflagration flame arresters. The pipeline blast suppression and flame arrestor has been certified by the Shenyang Special Inspection Institute, and it is specified in the name and type designation as a pipeline blast suppression type.
